First Fridays in Coral Gables

Permalink | Comments (1) | RSS

Today, May 6th is the first Friday of the month, and if you don't know what that means, I'll let you in on it. The First Friday marks the monthly Coral Gables gallery walk. For this night only the art galleries in Coral Gables just south of Miracle Mile on Ponce De Leon Avenue, open their doors to the public for a cultural night gathering of the local arts. There is always plenty of wine and hand food available while strolling through the galleries, and this all comes at no cost to participating spectators. Occasionally there is a live band in the street that belts out classical Cuban ballads in the Son style.Fellas, if you're single, here's a great chance to meet your future ex wife, and if your locked down or going on a first date here's the perfect opportunity to earn some points by taking the lady out for a nice stroll on the town, free of charge (the best part). The festivities start roughly around 8 p.m. Free parking is available in the new parking garage on Aragon, and will continue to be until the official grand opening ceremony on May 19th. Take advantage of the free parking situation in the Gables, it's about as common as a Dolphins super bowl victory. Below I have attached some other free stuff you may want to check out in the same area tonight. From 7 to 10pm free mojitos will be served to celebrate the grand opening of Pop Suave Art gallery at 266 Miracle Mile, highlighting Carlos Navarro originals, and sculptures. Havana Smokers will be presenting a special evening of cigars, wine and good music starting at 6pm. There will be a professional cigar hand-roller, a great selection of premium cigars, wine tasting and live entertainment at 4061 Ponce.Paper & Concept will be hosting its popular Chillout Sessions with Music by DJ Maya displaying a special installation of "Life Expressed Through Paper" from 6:30 to 9:00pm at 204 Aragon Avenue.Enjoy the art of Filtro at Chispa, 225 Altara with hors doeuvres and wine.
