The Heat Takes Game One

On a beautiful mothers' day in Miami, the Heat took on the Washington Wizards in the American Airlines Arena for game one of the NBA semi-finals. Through out the first half the Heat was up and down as Shaq got into foul trouble early on, and Wade ended the half with a playoff record low of only five points. The Heat led by as much as 17 in the second quarter, but by the end of the first half the Wizards trailed by only two points with three of five starters in double figures. The Wizards strong play in the first half brought an onset of illusions of grandeur to Sports Announcer Hubie Brown, who during the halftime recap claimed that "his team", the Wizards, looked likely to pull off a W. In the second half Hubie's castle in the sky came crashing down as the Heat's leading scorer, Wade, led the team to a 19 point victory over the Wizards. The Heat's bench played a key role in Sunday's victory. Led by Keyon "Crazy Legs" Dooling who was celebrating his 25th Birthday, the bench scored over thirty five points. Dooling shot 6 of 9 for 15 points, Rasul Butler sank a couple threes, and Laettner looked ten years younger, stealing the ball and dunking. Yes, I said dunking, on what was the slowest fast break I'd ever seen. Zo who seemed to share an equal amount of playing time with Shaq also came out in the second half playing with the tremendous vigor of his glory days, blocking shots and dunking over opponents. This Heat team carries the entire city's hopes of its first basketball championship ever, and the proof can be seen in their level of play. Pull out the push broom, because I predict another clean sweep.
