For those of you in need of a culture fix, the Miami Art Museum is offering some new exhibitions that you can checkout on Sundays for free. The Current exhibition is comprised of three individual exhibits. On the plaza level, an exhibit titled "Figuratively Speaking" is on display. The exhibition highlights how artists such as Romare Bearden and George Segal have worked outside of the mainstream utilizing "avant-garde" to adapt the traditional human figure into painting, sculpture, photography, and video art. The exhibit will be on display through October 30, 2005. In the "New Work Gallery", an exhibit featuring Robert Rauschenberg is on display. The exhibition consists mainly of Rauschenberg's more recent works. Based on photographs taken near his home in Captiva, Florida, the exhibit highlights the works from the "Scenarios" series. The exhibit will be on display through July 3, 2005. The Upper level features an exhibit titled, "Marking Time: Moving Images". The pieces in the exhibit share a bond in the various ways they mark time through movement, and engage the viewer through experience and perception. This exhibit will be on display through September 11, 2005. Located in the Miami-Dade Cultural Center in downtown Miami, the museum is free of charge to the public between 12 A.M. and 5 P.M every Sunday. * Hint: The quickest and cheapest way to get the museum is to take the Metrorail to Government Center. |
