Tomorrow, June 7, marks the national release date of Coldplay's third album X & Y. With the release of the bands highly anticipated LP, Coldplay has recently announced the full schedule for their 2005 "Twisted Logic Tour" this summer. Indie Brit rockers, Rilo Kiley, have been announced as the opening act for the North American Leg of the tour. For those of you who were not informed, the tour makes a stop in South Florida on September 13th. The performance will be held at the Sound Advice Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach. Tickets went on sale over the weekend, and the covered seat section of the amphitheatre is already completely sold out. However, for those die hard fans with their hearts set on going, tickets are still available in the lawn section at general admission prices. Most of the reviews I've read about the newest album seem to be spin-offs of the review in this month's issue of Rolling Stone magazine, which rated X & Y three stars. The review was mostly negative, and it seemed that the writer was more concerned with the band's aesthetics and popularity rather than their music. From what I've read and heard of the new album, Coldplay has truly proven their claim to evolving their sound through lots of long hard hours of work. If you never liked Coldplay, don't expect the new album to be a miracle. However, if you're a Coldplay fan, I think you'll appreciate the fact that the band has made a real effort to give fans something good; as opposed to the regurgitated garbage most bands produce with half ass efforts after reaching that level of success. I won't mention any names. Anyway, go check out the show. You can lay out a blanket on the lawn, and if god willing the weather is nice, enjoy a performance that is sure to be memorable. |
