Canadian lawmakers upset about lactating art

Permalink | Comments (0) | RSS

A Canadian performance artist is causing all sorts of unrest and outrage due to her unique performance. According to various news sources, lawmakers in Ottowa are up in arms over Jess Dobkin's The Lactation Station Breast Milk Bar.

This particular piece of performance art involves, you guessed (and if you did you're a sicko) Dobkin and some assistants systematically serving breast milk to their "patrons".

The reason that conservative legislators are upset has to do with Dobkin's source of funding for this odd piece of artwork. Apparently, the Canada Council for the Arts has granted Dobkin $9,500 (Canadian currency) to help fund her project. Kudos to the Council for ignoring the conservative lawmakers up to this point. Art is art, regardless of who it offends.

In any case, there is still no word on whether or not the lactate-heavy beverages are served with cream and sugar. Actually, now that I think about it, there's no need for the cream.
