This should be interesting.
Rap might get its first female just-got-outta-jail album. This has already been done countless times by male rappers (Tupac Shakur's All Eyes on Me comes to mind), but now that Kimberly Jones, aka "Lil' Kim", has been released from a Pennsylvania jail the hiphop community might get its first such album from a prominent female MC. Jones was released after serving almost 10 months of a 12-month sentence for perjury. She will remain under house arrest for 30 days and will be on probation for three years.
The charges stem from her efforts to cover for two friends that were involved in a shooting outside of the Hot 97 Radio station back in 2001.
While there is no official word on an album release chances are that we will see something from Lil' Kim in the near future. Why do I say that? Because she already released a pre-recorded album, The Naked Truth, while serving her prison sentence, so it only seems logical to follow that up with what could be a ground-breaking post-release album.
The "ground-breaking" part remains to be seen...
