Brandy Facing Prison Time?

Even though she was not charged with being under the influence, the pop star and actress known simply as Brandy may be charged with vehicular manslaughter for her role in a freeway crash last month.

The California Highway Patrol has recommended Brandy face the charge of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for her role in the fatality of a woman motorist. On December 30, the singer-actress was driving her Land Rover on Interstate 405 when she failed to observe the slowing of traffic in front of her. Traveling at about 65 miles per hour, she plowed into the back of another vehicle, causing a multi-car pile up.

The popular 27-year-old star struck the rear of Los Angeles waitress Awatef Aboudihaj's Honda, turning the Honda into a virtual ping pong ball. Aboudihaj's car first collided with another vehicle before sliding into the center divider where it was struck yet again by another car.

Aboudihaj died from blunt-force injuries during the multiple car accident. Though apparently considered to have to have perhaps been driving recklessly, the singer-actress was deemed free from the influence of both drugs and alcohol after the crash.

Brandy, real name Brandy Norwood, faces a maximum consequence of one year in County jail and a $1,000 fine if she is found guilty of the manslaughter charge.
