Eagles and Police Making Rock and Roll News

Two of Rock and Roll's most successful bands are once again making music news.

The immensely popular Eagles, a classic rock group that appealed to the country folks as well, are reportedly set to release their first new album in nearly 30 years. Featuring all new songs, the album would be the first for the band since "The Long Run" was released in 1979. The Grammy Award-winning single "Heartache Tonight" anchored that successful release.

The Eagles did get back together for their 1994 comeback tour and then once again in 1998 when they were elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Singer Don Henley indicated that the group's new album should be out in 90 days. The band also features household rock names Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Timothy Schmit and Don Felder.

Meanwhile, the Police are set to reunite when they will perform at this year's Grammy's. Like the Eagles, the Police last played together when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, back in 2003.

The Police won five Grammys in their heyday, producing such monster hit as "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take." The Police will reportedly open the Grammy ceremony, roughly 23 years after the band first broke up.

The Police feature the likes of singer Sting, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers. Much as the Eagles crossed traditional music lines, the Police crossed over with a fusion of reggae and pop and rock.
