Anyone who is familiar with twelve-step programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous knows what it means to "hit rock bottom." And it appears as if pop icon Britney Spears is beginning to get acquainted with the concept as well.

Just a few days after shaving her head at a Los Angeles hair salon, Spears has reportedly checked herself into an undisclosed rehabilitation center, although the exact details on what the troubled music icon is rehabbing from are not available. What is known is that the 25-year old singer has entered rehab at the bequest of concerned family members and that she has asked the media to respect her privacy.

According to published reports, Spears originally checked into a rehab center in the Caribbean island of Antigua late last week, but then promptly dropped out and went on her highly publicized hair-cutting rampage.

If that report is true, it appears as if that first attempt at rehab was a bit of a false start. This time around it looks like Britney Spears is serious about cleaning up. Perhaps she has truly hit rock bottom, although only time will tell if that is the case.
