In what appears to be a landmark move of sorts, the House of Representatives is set to pass a nonbinding resolution that supports U.S. soldiers already stationed in a Iraq but opposes the president's plan to send more combat troops to the beleaguered war zone.
On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) had some strong words regarding both the resolution and the president of the United States.
She asserted that the House's Iraq Resolution is simply reflecting the will of the American people and added that "the president has had a blank check -- no accountability, no responsibility. The days of the blank check are over."
This is the first time that Congress has blatantly admonished Bush's Iraq policy. |
