While the news of late has been the withdrawal of British troops from combat in Iraq, one member of the British royalty is about to begin a stint in the war zone with his regiment.

According to the British Ministry of Defense (MOD), Prince Harry, British military member will be deployed to Iraq later this spring. The Prince graduated from Britain's Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and has reportedly been seeking the Iraq deployment.

According to the British MOD, Prince Harry will be assigned a normal troop commander's role. The 22-year-old's responsibilities will involve leadership of a troop of 12. The men will work from four Scimitar, armored reconnaissance vehicles, each vehicle assigned a crew of three.

Prince Harry is the second son of the late Princess Diana of Wales. Following his father Prince Charles, Harry is third in line to the throne after Charles and Harry's older brother William.

The Prince is well known for his partying and frequent visitation to London's most exclusive nightspots. However, Prince Harry insisted that he would quit the army if he was not sent to Iraq at the time his unit would begin its tour.

His service as a member of Royalty is not all that exclusive. Prince Philip, Harry's grandfather served the Royal Navy in World War II.

The Prince goes to Iraq just as 1600 fellow British soldiers are being withdrawn. Britain has seen 130 soldiers perish since the inception of the war in 2003.
