CIA saga continues to unfold: Reporters defend Libby

Permalink | Comments (0) | RSS

The highly publicized CIA leak case, which focuses on former Dick Cheney chief of staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby Jr., took a rather dramatic turn on Monday, when various prominent Washington D.C. reporters, representing esteemed publications such as The New York Times and The Washington Post, testified that Libby did not reveal the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson, who was "outed" back in 2003.

The revealing of Plame's identity was the initial focus of the investigation, but it has since shifted to one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury, and two counts of making false statements.

If convicted, Scooter Libby could face up to $1.25 million in fines and up to 30 years in prison.
