Howard Stern makes a hypocrite of himself

On Wednesday, Howard Stern had a big Valentine's Day surprise waiting. He chose the mushy holiday to announce his engagement to longtime girlfriend Beth Ostrosky live on the air, during his Sirius Radio broadcast.

And this makes Stern one of the most highly publicized hypocrites of all time, because over the years, he has repeatedly asserted that he would never again get married. In fact, this anti-marriage statement has become a staple of sorts during his talk shows. Needless to say, his fans were shocked by the announcement.

I will give Stern some credit though, because he at least had the decency to describe the proposal, which occurred on Tuesday night, in excruciating detail.

Still, I feel that Howard Stern should change his title from "King of all Media" to "King of all Hypocrisy".

In 2000 Stern learned a valuable life lesson: it's hard to stay faithful when you're constantly surrounded by strippers. His new attempt at monogamy is not so much endearing as it is self-defeating. A person who loathes himself always sets himself up for failure.
