The Hardy Boys Sequel - Isn't Anything Sacred?

Every young man over the age of fifty likely grew up reading the tales of the young male detectives known as the Hardy Boys. The popular action-oriented series represented clear lines between good and evil and never sought to mimic the violent backdrop that permeates today's action flicks.

Taking the concept of revisiting past successful tales like Superman and Spiderman, and then giving it a weird twist, 20th Century Fox is set to return the famous Hardy brothers to life. But in doing so, the bizarre tandem of Ben Stiller and Tom Cruise are reportedly set to play the parts of the two book characters who have grown up to become the "Hardy Men."

The two superstars are to team up in a comedy that follows the two brothers theoretically made famous by the writer Franklin W. Dixon. Begun in 1927, the first fifteen volumes of the Hardy Boys series were actually written by Leslie McFarlane, a Canadian journalist. Later a team of writers adopted the style, all writing under the Dixon pseudonym, producing more than fifty original tales.

Shawn Levy has been chosen to direct the film for 20th Century Fox. Stiller and Levy recently worked together on a the immensely popular" Night at the Museum." Cruise, meanwhile, seems to be in free fall after yet another dismal showing in "Mission: Impossible 3.

The premise of the movie is to bring the two brothers, estranged as adults, back together to solve one final mystery. However, at the time of the announcement, no script or screenplay had been created nor a writer selected.

Suggestion: Why don't they film the Hardy Boys Movie in Haileybury, Ontario, Canada, where Leslie McFarlane wrote his books? Come visit the Cliff that is described in one of his books? I'm sure they would be welcome with open arms.
