"The Simple Life" could be a thing of the past for reality television star Paris Hilton after the hotel heiress was caught driving while her license was under suspension.
"Prison Life" could be in the offing if the police have their way. Officers seized Hilton's $190,000 Bentley and local prosecutors vowed to seek the revocation of her current probation status at the same time. If a judge were to rule that Hilton had indeed violated terms of probation she could see an additional fine and/or jail time for up to 90 days.
The operating under suspension charge comes just five weeks after Hilton was placed on probation for three years for her no contest plea to reckless driving charges for a September arrest. A no contest plea is equivalent to pleading guilty.
This time the actress was stopped for driving without headlights. The rather routine stop (even though it was 11:00 p.m.) in West Hollywood became complicated when police realized that Hilton's license was under suspension.
The heiress was cited on the spot for the suspended license and released. However, police impounded her 2007 blue Bentley Continental GTC. By law, the vehicle can be held for up to 30 days.
Hilton was alone at the time of the stop and she was not tested for alcohol consumption. "The Simple Life" star did not offer a public apology for driving while under suspension - instead she stated she had simply forgotten to turn on her headlights when she pulled out of a parking garage after a shopping excursion. |
