The scaled down version of the Golden Globes, a basic press conference, provided little fan-fare even if it did try to recognize the best performances in the film industry. The award for best drama went to "Atonement" while the film version of the Broadway hit "Sweeney Todd" won for best musical or comedy.
Commentary: Other big winners were Daniel Day-Lewis for best actor in a drama and Johnny Depp for best-actor in a comedy or musical. Marion Cotillard earned the best actress for her portrayal of Édith Piaf in "La Vie en Rose" while Julie Christie took home best actress honors in a drama for "Away From Her." Cate Blanchett earned best supporting actress for her role as a young Bob Dylan in "I'm Not There." The awards were spread out across so many films that the general consensus was there was no dominant movie this year. |
