Actor and comedian Eddie Murphy began 2008 as a married man. In a private ceremony on a small island near Bora Bora, the "Dreamgirls" star wed girlfriend and movie producer Tracey Edmonds on New Years Day.

Commentary: The small, intimate New Years Day wedding featured only 25 guests. Rhythm and blues singer Johnny Gill served as best man. Murphy and Edmonds became engaged in July after the actor had been accused of fathering a child with his former girlfriend, Spice Girl Melanie Brown. Though Murphy initially denied the allegations, DNA tests proved he was indeed the father.
