Written off by the pundits as the day began, Hillary Clinton shocked everyone with her startling three-point win over Barack Obama in the nation's first primary. Always an independent lot, the voters of New Hampshire derailed the Obama freight train and made the Democrat race truly a two person battle.
Commentary: Pundits had predicted as mush as 10 point win for Obama. But the junior senator from Illinois simply could not mirror the success he procuded at the Iowa caucuses. Whereas women supported Obama in Iowa, Clinton secured a significant percentage of every category of women voters, from single women to those who were married to the elderly. And with 57% of the total vote cast by women Clinton earned the stunning victory. |
