Amidst supporters chanting "Mac is back", John McCain was declared the early victor and cruised to the Republican primary win yesterday in New Hampshire. Certifiably New Hampshire's favorite son, McCain's victory came as expected and essentially created a wide open race for the presidential nomination on the Republican side.
Commentary: The victory for McCain came so early he was predicted the winner 24 minutes after polls closed in the Granite state. With national support for Rudy Guiliani waning, the McCain win has many thinking NH could springboard the Arizona senator to the top of the Republican group. However, Mitt Romney had another second place finish to match his showing in Iowa while Mike Huckabee finished third after winning in Iowa. Throw in Guiliani and the Republican nomination looks like a four man race in the week's ahead.
