As both "Late Night with David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" returned to the air last night, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee stopped by to visit Leno and to play a few guitar licks. The appearance by Huckabee gave the Republican some key air time the night before the critical first Iowa caucuses.
Commentary: Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor and Southern Baptist minister, took a page out of former Arkansas governor and president Bill Clinton's playbook as he laid a few licks on the audience by jamming with Leno's band. Clinton of course delivered a rousing rendition of "Heartbreak Hotel" on the saxophone on "The Arsenio Hall Show" in 1992. The appearance with Leno provided Huckabee some free air time on the eve of the lengthy presidential nomination process. |
