In what is considered one of the most important endorsements within the Democratic party, Senator Ted Kennedy is set to endorse the candidacy of Barack Obama. The voice of support from the senator comes just days after Obama's landslide victory in South Carolina.
Commentary: Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton had both actively sought the endorsement of the liberal Kennedy, still one of the most influential faces in the Democratic party. The stamp of approval indicates that Kennedy believes Obama is mainstream enough to win the presidency in November. The endorsement of Obama over Clinton reportedly came to bear in great part because of Kennedy's disappointment with the Clintons' campaign tactics. |
