Summoned by the family of Britney Spears, Doctor Phil McGraw spent an hour with the pop star just as she was being released from the hospital. Doctor Phil was already filming a special to air tomorrow that would catalogue the singer's personal strife.

Commentary: Though Spears had been expected to be confined to the hospital for 72 hours she was released after just one day in the ward. Said McGraw, "My meeting with Britney and some of her family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention. I am very concerned for her." However, many questioned the motives of the television doctor who seemed intent on making the high-profile intervention an upcoming segment of his show.
