Steroid Mess Reaches into Music Industry

Permalink | Comments (0) | RSS

The steroid mess that has engulfed major league baseball has now reached the ranks of the music industry. An investigation into the purchase of steroids and humane growth hormones by Albany County district attorney, P. David Soares, has uncovered alleged purchases linked to singer Mary J. Blige, rapper 50 Cent, and musicians Wyclef Jean and Timbaland.

Commentary: The names were published in a recent article by the The Albany Times Union. However, the release of the names does not come with any accusations of law-breaking by the entertainers. Though the steroid issue has been a bane for the sports world where such substances are banned because of their potential to enhance physical prowess, the move to the entertainment industry is thought to be in part due to the belief that such drugs also provide anti-aging effects. Tyler Perry, an author, actor and producer in theater, film and television also was named.
