The Los Angeles County coroner's office has ruled the death of Rap artist Pimp C accidental. The hip-hop figure had been found dead in a Sunset Strip hotel on December 4th.

Commentary: According to the coroner's office, the 33-year-old's death was due to a combination of factors including a medical condition and the promethazine/codeine effects of cough syrup. The coroner's office found that the rapper had elevated levels of the medicine in his system but not enough to be ruled an overdose. Pimp C also had a history of sleep apnea, a sleep disorder that can be deadly when mixed with prescription cough medicines. In the irony of ironies, Pimp C, born Chad Butler, had written an ode to the world of cough medicines.
